Then I guess the autoneg issue is only intermittent for some ports. On my end, it was permanent - perhaps they're using not 100% the same equipment on all COs. Which CO are you on? I'm on 780WUE...

You can directly use the router. For the registration, swisscom ask a serial on the bill or on customer aera. I prefer spoofing my mac address because I can change equipment without register again.
