You should ping from device on your LAN that uses the tunnel.
For local subnet, I entered a specific IP that belows to the first segment of my
private network which belows to my Eth2 port. The IP is 192.168.1.10//32
You can't just configure a private address or subnet on your side of the VPN. You have to consult the remote party about this. Both sides must agree on identical settings, otherwise phase2 won't work.......(which swanctl also might tell if we would make it spit out its messages)
