Not sure if I followed your suggestion correctly. From the CLI, I typed:
sudo swanctl --log
<Enter>
ping 72.13.6.218
<Enter>
All I get after each <Enter> key is a blinking cursor, so I <control>-C out of it to get my prompt back.
