Main difference:Kernel and lots of packages have been renewed on V2. V1 was running pretty 3.10 kernel
Hardest part is getting vendor specific offload modules properly working with newer kernel.
Even latest V2.0.4 has issues with offload on mediatek devices , like no VLAN support
For any router based on the MediaTek chips, I highly recommend staying with v1.10.9 (or later patches as they come out) until things settle down with v2.0.x. Evidently, the vlan-aware switch still isn't working correctly in v2.0.3. See this thread, where the fix was to downgrade from v2.0.3 to v1.10.9. The config had pvid x on an access port and trunk port with vid x, and that didn't work in v2.0.3.
