Ok so i reapplied the router upgrade this evening. There was an issue with my static routes and they were removed after the upgrade. I attempted to recreate them and got the error:
Nexthop address cannot be same as own interface address
I was able to work around this by pointing the destination to a downstream router and although this works, is inefficient as we are sending traffic to another router that may be destined for our edge router as it does have netowrks on it as well. We need to research and figure out how to implement the route map or route prefixes so that the routers can do their job efficiently.
