Generally speaking my dev sites aren't publically accessible unless I want them to be. So when I'm working away from home I use the VPN to go in and do stuff, be able to view them etc etc.
I also have reverse proxies for my ERX admin interface and Unifi controller so that I can use friendly domain URLs rather than remembering IP addresses or using bookmarks. Purely for convenience that one though.
Do want to use it to tunnel all traffic through my home network when I'm on open public Wifi in train stations, conferences, coffee shops etc.
