Hello, I was donated an ER-X, now running 1.9.0 from a client and got to playing with it and had some questions regarding the WAN failover configuration and behaviors.
My lab use-case is Eth0 being a Static, Public IP address WAN interface. Eth1 being a DHCP, Local IP (10.0.0.0/24) WAN interface (EG router behind router Cellular backup, this cell backup is serving multiple networks hence not passing through the Public). Eth1 is intended to be a failover only connection. Switch0 is going to be to include Eth2-4 and running a 192.168.5.0/24 network.
I was reading the guide here. https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/802-3ad-failover-QOS-help/m-p/768682#M26442 but wasn't able to find information regarding how to set the Gateway for Eth0. Further, with Eth1 being DHCP, how to configure to the failover reroute to use the DHCP assigned GW. My understanding is most single WAN configurations, to put the gateway as the system default gateway. This doesn't appear to be a logical answer for a dual-WAN configuration.
Also, what is the default behavior for a failover scenario? It looks to be that Eth0 and Eth1 will ping ping.ubnt.com. However, how many non-respones or length of time sets failure on Eth0? What criteria sets recovery? Is this configurable?
In a Eth0 recovery situation is the firmware going to disconnect active connections on Eth1 or wait for them to end on their own, sending only NEW connections out the recovered Eth0?
