Re: It's time to have a discussion about the web interface...

You are asking for much more (in the GUI) for this type of router; you would be better off with Tomato or DDWRT. I agree on a few of the points (DMZ, SFP, HW Offload, and a few others), but prosumer doesn't really describe where the EdgeMax line is. That might have been my expectation going in too, but I understand where it is.

What (IMO) is lacking is a better macro system; most of the devices end up being set-and-forget-- getting things 99% of the way there is going to be the best they can do.

The real opportunity on the platform is for managed services.

Macro may be the better way to describe what I was thinking about the 'wizard' point.  Image may be NSFW.

I agree Tomato or DDWRT might be a better use case, but frankly it's still a fringe initiative that is barely and/or poorly supported by those that offer it as an option (limited choices, etc.), and on every other 'supported' platform it's a hack over the stock firmware that makes the unit not supported.  At home, I don't have time to figure out every little place that something breaks or doesn't because the vendor didn't support the needs of a second option firmware, or many parts of it can't be implemented because there is no open support for the features in a way that is compatible with open source.  It's just too messy, and I've been watching it for YEARS.  Image may be NSFW.
