Re: migrate from ER Lite to ERP

Is it as simple as downloading the config from the ER Lite then uploading that same config to my new ERP?

Will the upload wipe out everything from the ERP?

Copying config between different ER models is generally a bad idea because different models have different hardware specific config options:

  1. Different number of ethernet interfaces (ER-L vs ER-Pro)
  2. Switch interface might not be supported on new device (ER-poe vs ER-Pro)
  3. Different offload settings (ER-lite vs ER-X)

For you particular case I would suggest:

  1. Make sure you are merging configs from same firmware version;
  2. Make backup of  /config/config.boot on ER-Pro;
  3. Manually merge your old ER-L config to new ER-Pro config and make sure you don't erase extra eth3-7 ethernet interfaces
  4. Upload new confg to /config/config.boot on ER-Pro and reboot

Uploading new config will not wipe any files.

If you can not access ER-pro after reboot then it means that your new config was somehow corrupted and now the only way to recover it is by doign a factory reset.
