Hi thanks for your reply, no the I want the wans to be specific to each switch.
Re: ER-X How to Create a static route for multicast IP address of 234.46.30.7
Use the mDNS repeater option. Define the networks and allow port 5353 on the network you want to communicate with.
Re: ER-X Went Dark
I've got about 8 of them. Other than a recent bad experience with 2.0.1 I've never even had one crash. Uptimes of well over a year. Never had one die either. I think you've been very unlucky.
Standalone OpenVpn server NAT Masquerade
HI
I'm trying to configure a Edgerouter X as a standalone VPN server and is having some problems configuring the VPN tunnel network NAT/Masqerade trough eth0.
My setup is the edgerouter connected to eth0 IP: 192.168.0.5, and udp port 1194 forwardet to it from the main router.
It is not possible to change the configuration of the network only to port forward.
I have seen this done on a Openvpn server running on a Ubuntu where tjhe vpntunnelnetwork was NAT/masqeraded trough eth0.
i'm trying to do the same with the edgerouter but i'm not shure how to configure it.
Re: Unable to connect LiftMaster MyQ Internet Gateway (model 828LM) through Edgerouter X
I recently started experiencing a similar outage with my 828LM.
I put the ports in the firewall but had no change. Finally, I decided to put the device on a different vlan that doesn't use pi-hole for DNS and viola, it's working again.

Unusual network configuration for an ER-X for campus network
I've got a university network that I'm adding a small video conference / control system to. I've got a single port from their network that I need to do two things with:
1 - eth1, and eth2 would be on the room's internal AV network, 192.168.1.x, and a few ports from the campus network would need to port forward to some of the internal AV network IPs. Right now, I have these as part of the WAN+2LAN2 Wizard created switch. eth1 actually goes to a larger PoE swtich, and eth2 goes to a room PC that just needs internet access. If needed, or simper, I could move what's plugged in eth2 onto the larger PoE switch.
2 - eth3 has a collaboration appliance (think AirPlay, Miracast, that sort of thing) that ideally would have an IP address on the campus network. The appliance shows the IP address that it's set to on the screen for the users to connect, and so unless I give it an IP on the campus network, the user would be presented with a 192.168.1.x address, which would not work for users that were wireless connected to the campus network
I can get multiple IP addresses on their network if needed
I had initially though about just port forwarding everything to the collaboration appliance on eth3, except the 4 or so ports I need for the AV equipment, but that doesn't solve the need for the collaboration appliance to have an campus IP
Another thought I had was to bridge eth0 and eth3 together and give the appliance a raw campus address, but can I then still use a second address to port forward to things on eth1 and eth2? I know there's a performance hit with bridging, but the amount of traffic would be fairly low ~10 mbps
Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Route 0.0.0.0/24 automatically added on ETH2
That's why I posted this. Because since 2016 I figured this wouldn't be an issue and here we are with the same issue.
Also no OpenVPN server is running on that router.
Basically I found myself with 2 X 0.0.0.0/24 routes. One for each ETH port that I had DHCP set on. Perhaps that's a clue to the bug... ETH0 having a real WAN connection and ETH2 now using a DHCP but not really being connected to anything.
Also I thought 0.0.0.0/24 is another way of saying anything that is outside of what's defined in previous routes, so I figured it's a way for splitting when you have a backup WAN. Which in my case I did not want and am trying to figure out how to disable such an automatic routing from being added.
That's really the question, how do I prevent that route from being added. Cause what happens is that I get 50% disconnect time because of it.

Re: ER-X How to Create a static route for multicast IP address of 234.46.30.7
Good day Biob,
Thanks for your post, but it is not a mDNS issue. I say this, as I am trying to route specific multicast ip packets (234.46.30.7 via various ports in the 40000 to 50000 range) from the LAN portion of the router to the WAN2 port bidirectionally. DNS and mDNS do not come into play here because there are no host names to resolve.
Thanks anyway for your suggestion!
Cheers,
Sam

Re: ERL Power supplies failing
An old 12VDC 100ma adapter from a Q-See camera system fixed it.
Time to source a good PSU.
Re: I think my Edge Router is bricked
Not sure how or why this made any differance but I was directed by support to try doing a TFTP Recovery on the device. I wasn't sure how well this would work since the TFTP Recovery relys on using the console to initiate it but I figured that I had nothing to lose.
So I shut down my ER4 and unplug it. Then I connect up the USB to DB9 cable and connect the DB9 to RJ45, start PuTTY and hold down the 1 key and plug in the ER4 and lo and behold I start getting stuff that looks like boot mesages on my console. I powerd off the ER4 and booted it normilly and again I am getting device boot messages and then OS boot messages.
I was able to log in via the console and I shut it down again and them booted without the DB9 to RJ45 cable plugged into the console port of the ER4 and once it booted up I connected the console cable and was able to use the serial console.
I have no clue as to what changed to make it work. I had booted with the console cable connected before and never got anything until now.
Re: Route 0.0.0.0/24 automatically added on ETH2
wrote: What else could cause the connection to become intermittent when another DHCP ETH interface is configured? No other route entries were added to the table and when I disabled ETH2 everything became normal again.
Hard to say. As said upthread, ususally such a route appears when running OpenVPN. I have never seen it releated to DHCP on another interface.
If you get it with adding DHCP for another ETH interface and that causes you connection problems, you can delete the route itself without undoing the DHCP via:
ip route del 0.0.0.0/24
then see whether that alone fixes the problem or not. Diagnosis often involves divide and conquer to isolate a problem.
Re: Route 0.0.0.0/24 automatically added on ETH2
Over here, for sure, the 0.0.0.0 route comes from openvpn:
show ip route Codes: K - kernel, C - connected, S - static, R - RIP, B - BGP O - OSPF, IA - OSPF inter area N1 - OSPF NSSA external type 1, N2 - OSPF NSSA external type 2 E1 - OSPF external type 1, E2 - OSPF external type 2> - selected route, * - FIB route, p - stale info IP Route Table for VRF "default" …. C *> 0.0.0.0/27 is directly connected, vtun0
openvpn subnet is a /27 range, matching the 0.0.0.0 route.
And I run 2 DHCP scopes, both /24 , and I see no trace of 0.0.0.0/24 routes
ER1-X , V2.0.3 , not using DNSMASQ for DHCP
Anyway....post your config and describe issues your're having. Focussing is on that bogus route won't solve your problem.
Port forwarding both working and not working ... so confused
Trying to Open A port to both 25565 (minecraft server) and 8245 ( dynu DNS service) on same static ip.
When i check the ports with any open port tools it says they are closed .
However , I also have another port open @ 32401 (for A plex sever diffrent static ip and it shows open... but it does not look like it should even work ... Confused.
Few notes about the network.
.207 and .208 are Netwrok Bridge and have been given their stacic IPs (.207 connects to the router and .208 connets to .207)
Also, the first Port forwarding rule for 159 / plex is not in use. ( that was the old address for the plex server before the network bridging )
Port 32400 --- Not in use , just old rule not in use / nothing at that address.
Port 32401-- Shows open and Plex Server has remote access ( however the Original port is 32401 and the Forward-to port is 32400. (if I change the Forward to port to 32401, it shows closed and plex remote access wont)
Port 25565-- Shows Closed , however people CAN connect to my Minecraft sever
Port 8245--Shows closed, However I can ping my .net and retrieve my ip .... but others can not coccent with the .net but can with the IP address.
Re: Unable to open port via port forwarding.
Why are rule 14 and 15 identical ?
If one is meant for UDP1194, and the other for TCP1194, TCP won't work
Also, reconsider mapping ports like 137,138,139 and 445. Never open those on the internet.
Such traffic should be inside a VPN
