If this is a known hardware error, I would expect Ubiquiti to provide replacement USB:s for the units affected, provide official instructions how to write a new image to the USB and and installation guide as to how the USB is replaced. That would be the proper way to deal with this without recalling them and replacing them with new ones. This is not an isolated case where someones unit dies just out of warranty, those USB:s are crap and will all die prematurely.
