Re: Edgepoint EP-R8, EP-R6 Vlan Trunk

Looks like you're misunderstanding the purposes/uses of a few different pieces of equipment.

First off, the EP-R8 is a router only, and all ports are separate routable interfaces. You cannot assign a switch0 interface because they do not have a switch built in (the EP-R6 does, however).

VLANs won't work on the EP-R8 like you are describing. You will need to use an EP-R6 for that.

Based on the picture, you only have one subnet. The second EP-R8 isn't doing you any favors here, you really need a switch in that location. Think of each port on an EP-R8 as it's own completely separate network.

Also, I'm not an expert here since I've never even touched an SFP module, but according to the product sheet the EP-R6 and EP-R8 do not support 10gb SFP modules (the EP-S16 does).

I'm not exactly sure what specific goals you have with the setup, but it looks like you have the wrong hardware. it would probably be best to just use 4 EP-R6 units with one set up as a router and the other three set up as switches (or 1 EP-R8 and 3 EP-R6 as switches?) all connected with CAT6. Some of the other guys here might be able to set you straight with some additional details about the current setup and your goals (where do VLANs enter this situation?).

Honestly though, it sounds like you need a consultant of some sort to try and sort through all of this.
