My experience so far is that these kind of issues are usually a result of a misconfiguration at the modem you set in bridge mode.
A coupld of points to look into:
- I assume that you checked that the MTU should be set at 1492, right? There are some ISPs that require an MTU size of 1500.
- You don't need "address dhcp" in eth1 with PPPoE.
