Well it depends on how you originally configured eth1. Did you configure it with 192.168.1.1/24?
eth2, eth3, and eth4 can be confiured on a switch. What sort of ip address do you get on a device connected to the AP when the AP is on eth2? You must use the same subnet when connecting directly to eth2.
Whenever you configure a router, it is a good idea to copy /config/config.boot for backup to some other machine. Then you have it for restoring to that state but also to look at to see how you configured things.
