I think adding switches in the barn is fine, unless you can get a connection directly to your ISP in this new barn, and then if you wanted to you could put in a new ERL and have this new barn be a "remote site" with its own internet connection.
The buildings will close enough and there will be an open trench to bring water and 3-phase power over that I can put a fiber line in with it. Don't really want another bill and the upload speeds are pretty slow.
