Again I agree with you.. per se.. I assumed that by using the mac address in the static ip mappping, it ensured the IP given to the device is always the static one. I assume you are indicating a person could change from DHCP to static ip on their device.. but does that actually override the static mapped IP via the mac address at the router? That seems like a big problem if it is that easy to circumvent mac to ip assignment. I would think if you did that, the router would match mac to ip via packets and not see the ip sending the packets mapped to a mac address.. and essentially ignore/block? Could be way off though.
