I'm getting CenturyLink gigabit installed which requires VLAN 201 tagging.
I've seen so many recommendations for the Ubiquity Edgerouter Lite on various forums, but in my research it seems that people use it for fairly complex setups with multiple VLANs. The ERL has advantage that it can do the VLAN tagging, but I also need a switch on top of it since it is just a router.
There are managed switches out there that can do the VLAN tagging for the CenturyLink inbound, then strip it on the port that the AP is connected to.
What's the advantage of using an ERL in my case over just a managed switch that can do the VLAN tag/strip?
